‘Home’- The New Album From James Kennedy

If you’re up to date on the Welsh rock scene, then you may recognise James Kennedy from hardcore alt-rock band, Kyshera. Now, after long stints of touring and contemplating on his next move, James is back with his solo album, Home, that sees him move at a tangent from his previous work.

After touring Europe extensively with Kyshera and even supporting the Stereophonics, James began to suffer from fell depression which inspired him to release his first proper solo release. Kennedy used the process as a form of therapy, writing, recording and mastering the album within just a few months. His melodic yet emotional and catchy style expresses his experience during the past few years of constant touring.

At a young age, James had to have surgery performed on three occasions due to arising hearing conditions that could have jeopardised his entire music career. Fortunately, although eh was missing out at school, James became proficient as a self-learner, teaching himself guitar, piano and bass, as well as singing. He then took these skills to The Welsh College of Music and Drama which led to James working in recording studios and eventually, setting up his own label, Konic records.

Titled the 32nd sexiest man in Wales, James Kennedy doesn’t just have soulful raspy vocals and a dynamic performance style. Drawing similarities with Prince, The Script and Paolo Nutini, ‘Home’ reflects Kennedy’s journey of depression from dark to light.

Home is out 31st March 2017.
