Grand Delusion is the latest record from alt-rock musician Matt Boroff, who has embarked as a solo artist after having been involved with previous band, Matt Boroff and the Mirrors, and his high school band who even shared a stage with Nirvana.
The new album is one that challenges listeners with its complex, yet well-crafted songwriting and its pertinent content matter. Greed, humanity, war-mongering and love’s role in the world are just a few of the topics covered by Matt on the record and at a time like this, perhaps music is an ideal medium for addressing these issues.
With Boroff’s distinct baritone layered above a pulsating grooves, screaming guitars and flickering organ notes, the alternative sound challenges musical genres. The emotive lyrics paint a bleak picture of a world where self-deception has reached critical mass.
Recorded at 11AD studios, the album features producer and multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes, former Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Pearl Jam drummer Jack Irons and vocalist Mark Lanegan.
Matt will be performing a headline show in London at the Old Blue Last February 6th.
