This is quite an exciting in up and coming music, as well as young singers and stars in the making, however, it takes an established musician to give the younger generations a shot.

Wicked Empire Has Made His Mark On The World Of Deep House Music

As an artist myself, I know what it is like to write and record your own music, without any financial backing or any other perks to start you off the in the music industry.

However, Christopher Dickinson has surpassed expectations of bedroom composers, as he recorded his most recent single ‘Blow The Roof Off’, entirely at his camp base in the middle east while serving for the US army, fighting for freedom.

This would be no hurdle for the producer, who managed to rig up a fairly cool set up, including Ableton Live; Fruity Loops; Pioneer XDJ and Novation Launchpad. Not Too bad, is it?!

Christopher has expressed his feelings on how he wants to get out of the army, and he feels this could be a possible way to drive his focus towards his overall goal, music making.

Be sure to check out Christopher and his brand new track ‘Blow the Roof Off’, out now:

Supporting Life Through Music – A Truly Noble Cause

Every now again, a story comes my way that is so moving, and so inspiring, it completely changes my outlook on, well, pretty much everything… This is exactly what happened as I sat and read about The Celebration of Life, Demelza and a little boy called Jaden.

Sadly, Jaden suffers from a terminal brain disease, and his parents were initially told by doctors that he wouldn’t live long. However, to the complete delight of his family and everyone who knew his story, Jaden celebrated his 11th birthday in August, and the care he received at the hospice run by Demelza was instrumental to this.

Learn more about the work Demelza Hospice does here: https://www.demelza.org.uk/

A huge part of this care was music, and this is where the guys at the Celebration of Life come in.

Watch the documentary about the project here: https://youtu.be/fuXbDleb310

The Celebration of Life is a fundraising project started by a group of producers from the jungle, drum & bass, reggae and dance worlds (some of Jaden’s favourite genres) who were moved by his story; Potential Badboy; Demolition Man; Jr. Dangerous; Navigator; Tippa Irie; General Levy; Alaska MC and Cowboy Ranger. They have come together to produce a song, and music video called “Celebrate Life”. The track has been described as ”an uplifting, beat-heavy, furiously catchy song which is aimed at all those struggling in situations beyond their control and showcases some of the best in UK musical talent from the last twenty five years, in a completely unique coming together of genre.”

Watch the video to “Celebrate Life” here: https://youtu.be/ryNIeQ6AUh4

To promote the release of the track, the guys will be headlining Jungle Fever at the Ministry of Sound on the 22nd of September and all proceeds will go straight to Demelza and the hospices so they can continue their amazing, important work.

Is Olisha Naiker the new Dua Lipa?

It’s not every day you get an unsigned pro sounding pop star… and an unsigned pro sounding pop star from Africa, that’s even better.

Meet Olisha Naiker (who’s Taylor Swift? this is Olisha Naiker). Her new single Starangers is one hell of a catchy tune. The fragility of her voice really captures her emotion in this song despite the strong up tempo beat of the track, it feels honest and real.

Techno Prisoners – Nej!Las

Having become a dedicated electronic producer, nej!las has lived in 2 different countries and 8 different cities in 18 years. On top of this, she is a qualified lawyer and has founded a charity which has raised millions of dollars for needy people worldwide. All these experiences taught her how to adapt, how to be transient, and most importantly, how to be independent, original and unique.

Here, we get a clearer idea of just what makes her tick:

What attracted you to the techno/electro/house scene?

The ability (and even the requirement) to make, not only harmonic melodies and bass lines, but to additionally have percussion and drums that could, by themselves, carry a song.  Techno/electro/house pushes the envelope by requiring and allowing for creativity in all areas of a song. It requires one to constantly innovate and come up with new, original, creations and techniques applied to the production.

What is your local music scene like? How do you think you fit in?

The Detroit Techno scene is so prominent; it created its own genre. The Detroit Techno Militia shows the attitude of techno producers that reside in Detroit – independent, proud and original. Detroit allows for producers to have creativity, to not necessarily fit inside the box of what “techno” is supposed to be, but to continuously push the boundaries of the genre. Detroit Techno is innovative. The innovative and original style shines through my music.

You’ve got a huge gig lined up – what would be your dream venue?

An intimate venue where I could feed off of the audiences’ energy and they could be up close and personal to my live production. A symbiotic relationship between me and the crowd.

Tell us about how you go about creating your music, from initial idea to completion

I create two different live sets.

The first live set – the “progressive, melodic set” focuses on the harmonic elements. This set, by itself, would be categorized as “progressive” music. I spend days creating and manipulating analogs, wavetables, and filters in order to find a unique synth sound. I tend to favour an almost guitar-like synth – overdriven and raw. I then, likewise, formulate an “opposite” synth that is sweet and melodic – as if it could lead a progressive/chill-out song. This synth tends to be a string or rubber instrument. I then spend additional days writing, rewriting, and rearranging midi data and appreciations. With all the variations of synths and midi, I usually have enough sounds and tracks to form an entire arrangement. This is the next step, to formulate all the melodies into an arrangement of a harmonic song from an intro to an outro.

The second set – the “techno” set focuses solely on drums and percussion. I likewise arrange a very heavy techno arrangement from an intro to an outro. Hardware, like the Alesis SamplePad 4, is very useful to continue to create original midi data, or even audio samples, for percussion.  I want this second set to be able to stand alone as a song without bass or melodies.

In the end, I combine the two sets, which could, by themselves, be sufficient for a song, into one set that has movement and free flowing segments. I arrange the set to make it play as if I were playing it live. I even record all the modulations and envelopes from a MIDI controller (the AKAI MPC40) as if I were performing it live. This “live performance” of the song becomes the final track.

What would be your ultimate aim in the industry?

To continue to innovate and bring original music into the traditional “techno” genre. I want to create a niche of original, harmonic, progressive, techno songs that play, and sound, like a live set.

Is there anything you would like people to know about your current release?

Songs like “Fini” play like a live set, except it allows one to listen to it anywhere. That is the style of my production – to have harmonic synths that could stand by themselves as a progressive song, but on top of the harmonies, to have percussion and drums that could also be sufficient for a song. The music is “alive”, always changing and morphing into something new and creative.

Feline And Strange: Aliens From Above Are Here, And They Bring The Music Of The Future

With the recent release of their brand new album ‘OUT’, these flamboyant musicians are taking the electro wave-cabaret scene in a whole different direction.

With a vast mix of exciting and new ideas, brought by head masterminds Feline Lang and Christoph Klemke, Feline and Strange is an eclectic and unique concept.

Spawning from the idea that aliens have come down to earth, and are trying to make a living through performing and recording, fitting the music into their strange but wonderful show.

‘OUT’, which is the most recent addition to their previous 4 albums, was inspired by the world events, and their views on the Syrian refugee crisis. “I was reading all the good news from home, and still couldn`t help harbouring dark feelings that this was too good to be true. And even before I came home, I was proven right when the first refugee homes burned, assaulted by fascists”. explained Feline.

However, this is an album that will satisfy all of you electro, classic, Depeche mode inspired needs, so be sure not to miss out.
